Wake Up World
So i sit here, on this un-seasonably warm evening of Dec.8, 2005 and it comes to me that, as of today, John Lennon was killed 25 years ago. And so its always seems to conlcude; great men die young.
And what of the world, John, would you have to say today?
Surely its stuck in a much harder place, pressed against a much larger rock, and here we are without the revolutionaires of yester year, the renegades of a time that has come to pass and begin to collect dust.
Still, we sit round the fires, bound togther with laces unseen, though our eyes are not still. Ever searching to satisfy an always anylitical mind, grazing on our imperfections, if only to isolate ourselves even further. Brotherhood and community have sauntered back into the pages of history, like a ragged mutt, with his tail between his legs, head low, incase the man yanks him back on his choker.
Though, through the eyes of someone whos sight has lain witness to decades, watched the world spin many moons and suns over head, the general feel of society has remained solid. For it wasnt so long ago, that the world was at war over things unkown to the pawns, soldiers fighting wars the should not be in, crisis of many varities, be it energy or foriegn policy, minorities fighting for thier decency. Corrupt government buying elections, laying waste to the systems and beliefs that made our country what it is today, the millions of lost souls searching for an answer, a leader, a new way.......
So tell me what distiguishes the state of the world 30 years ago and the state of it today is if not FEAR? The people are too fear stricken to act, to gather, to speak, to stand up against our own oppressors, the very ones we dutifully elect when THEY DECIDE its time. As we sit in shock and awe , while the bombs fall and the missiles fly and we sleep tight while the children cry. Too fear stricken to open their hearts and minds to the Earth and all its creatures, to love one another, to blink an eye without the glimmer of a dollar sign, to see beyond the tips of our greedy grimey paws.
To misguided messangers blaring thier horns of enlightenment, I say this. If there has every been a time to raise high our forgotten swords, then let it be now. Let us unite globally, lift our heads to the skies, and scream into the the night" I will not be led blindly into the furnace" For there is no island, ladies and gents, and this might be the only chance we have. The choice is yours too, now you just have to make it........
RIP John Lennon
