WOW

Just a quick note, was watching Daily Planet on Discovery just now and seen a real breakthrough in energy saving, a fluorescent light dimmer. Sounds kinda mundane really at first, but apparently he suggests a 60% energy savings. I watched a 43% drop, while barely noticing a difference in light output. The doctor slyly coys"At this point you might start to notice a drop".
I was unsure if I was actually seeing any dimming at all, then ol Doc flics full power back on and, bam, suddenly much brighter than it appeared. Thinking I was somehow tricked by this Doctor, he tells me exactly that"
"I tricked you..." he says. Turns out, the rate of dimming is directly correlated to the dilation of the pupil, so my eyes were adjusting to the dimming at the same time. I could not notice the difference because my eyes adjusted at the same rate.
Still some might be lost here. This dimmer is a huge step in energy conservation, potentially. Millions of companies use fluorescent lighting, all around the world. If even a 40% reduction in energy consumption in offices and the like were possible, only a small fraction of companies would have to adapt the systems to make HUGE savings.
I don't know all the details, but it was definitely an interesting program and I'm gonna look into it further. Definitely exciting possibilities though.

A striking Resemblance

Look carefully now......

Now that explains more than I would have thought. Looks like real progress for freedom and liberty......

Now hows that for scary.

I just thought I would take a moment to address an oft-tapped issue of youth voting. Now I am considered a youth at the fresh age of 22. Over the last year or two I have become increasingly aware of the ignorance and unwillingness to even want to be aware, of my peers. My friends and co-workers, almost blatantly refuse to head dutifully down to the polling stations, refuse to give a damn about the future of our country, refuse to question whether the parties if today even have the next generation of Canada in mind or are they simply bending to the voter demographic. A simple fact; the majority of today's voters are baby-boomers, the recently retired, the old and grey. So all a wise political leader needs to do to sway the vote is toss a few keywords into his speech like: PENSION, HEALTHCARE, or another elderly cause, and bang, he's got the majority.

What about other important issues to young Canadians, mainly equal rights among minorities, Kyoto, the environment, they are tossed to the side come election time, save of course for the Green Party but even that is unrealistic. What we need is younger faces in the polling stations and younger faces in the whole political system. If only a small fraction of the youth today got off their collective ipod listening, xbox playing LAZY ASSES of the damn couch and get with it, then we can have a voice. This is the future of our lives, the very country we live in and if we don't want to have any say in it, than what the hell are we gonna have to deal with when the recently retired become the recently deceased?
A burned out healthcare system? a non existent CPP? A system so terribly inflated the crash down rivals that of Enron?

So seriously, so called leaders of our country, don't insult me by dragging a half known celebrity around, or trumpeting "hip" music at conventions, in thinking that this is gonna grab my vote. Try getting in touch with the future of the country, keeping an ear to the ground and actually create a platform that addresses the concerns of the young citizens, and maybe they will put their attentions to you.

Rense Rants

The End of the Internet?!?!
Geez and I was just getting comfortable around here. Can't anything be free anymore?

A little closer to home
Nice to see some Canadian content over there at Rense.

Now if only Canadian Liberals could learn a thing or two...
Now is it just me or does Hugo Chavez have more than a few good ideas. To bad US is too quick to tell you otherwise.

Rense Rants

Dying for a steak

There goes another one. I wonder when it will get to the point where they stop telling is what causes cancer, and start figuring out what doesn't.

Tense

Moving.
Again.
Stressed.
Tense and unsure.
Can't wait to be home, but I hate moving all the time.
Just wanna set my roots down.
Just get used to one place, then leave for another.
All my life.
Probably lived in twenty-five different homes.
And I'm only 22, figure that one.
Used to hear about people living in a home all their lives.
Always longed for that.
Someday.
Someday.

Rense Rants

Those Crazy Conspiracy Theorists......what will they think up next

Very well written, not presenting any new information, but well written indeed. Slams on the table, how big of a stretch it is to actually believe the "Conspiracy".
